Heather Ewart from ABC's Back Roads, named our very own Empire Hotel, located in Queenstown, Tasmania, in her top ten country pubs in Australia!
It is an absolute honour to get this recognition, there are so many fantastic country pubs in Australia, rich in history, all with stories to boot.
First and foremost, it must have a good publican who understands the importance of a meeting place for locals and passers-by, especially in remote parts.
Somewhere to have a laugh, and spin a yarn or two in both good and bad seasons.

Visit The Empire Hotel located in the heart of Queenstown, Tasmania. The ‘Grand Old Lady of the West’ is a Tasmanian icon and has a prominent facade in the towns streetscape. Rich in history, dating back to the wealth of the mining era, at the turn of the century.
Inside, guests are greeted by a beautifully handcrafted, National Trust listed staircase, made from Tasmanian Blackwood, that is admired by visitors from all around the world.
